Introduction
The word "agrologist" is derived from the Greek words "agros" meaning land, or farm, and "logist" meaning scientist.
The N.B. Institute of Agrologists is an organization of university-trained professionals dedicated to insuring that its members are qualified. It is also dedicated to the maintenance of high standards by members while providing knowledge and advice on agriculture and related areas to the public.
Professionalism in agrology begins with fulfilling the requirements of a university degree and continues with being committed to seeking further knowledge and providing reliable advice that is based on training and experience. It is a commitment to engage in activities that will create and maintain a desire to be enthusiastic, responsible and ethical in pursuing ones chosen career.
This member kit will serve as a resource for those who genuinely want to be professional agrologists. It is designed to provide a better understanding of NBIA structure, role and activities. It should be maintained as a guide and a reference. By understanding the structure and function of the organization, one can develop ones own professionalism.
This member kit will assist members and potential members in understanding their role and to encourage them to become active in Institute affairs. Hopefully, it will encourage members to live by the adage "You will get out of it, what you put into it". The kit can also serve to interpret agrology to the agricultural industry and to the public.
